It's been nearly a year since we heard anything about CONTRACTED cinematographer Mike Testin's feature directorial debut DEMENTIA, so this is a very good update to receive on the film: the North American distribution rights have been acquired by IFC Midnight. A release date hasn't been announced yet, but should be forthcoming.
Written by Meredith Berg, DEMENTIA tells the story of
an aging war veteran who suffers a stroke and is diagnosed with dementia. He is forced by his estranged family to hire a live-in nurse, only to find that she harbors a sinister secret.
THE SACRAMENT's Gene Jones plays the war veteran, with HALLOWEEN '07's Kristina Klebe as the secretive nurse. The rest of the cast includes Richard Riehle, Marc Senter, Peter Cilella, and newcomer Hassie Harrison.
There was a solid assemblage of talent for this film, which is made even more enticing by the fact that it has been likened to WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE and REPULSION. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out, and discovering just how dark of a secret Klebe's character has.
