A state-of-the-art remake of the classic William Castle horror film about a family that inherits a spectacular old house from an eccentric uncle. There's just one problem: the house seems to have a dangerous agenda all its own. Trapped in their new home by strangely shifting walls, the family encounters powerful and vengeful entities that threaten to annihilate anyone in their path.
Rated R for horror violence/gore, nudity and some language, the film sports a 15% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: The production design is first-rate, but 13 Ghosts is distinctly lacking in scares.
It was directed by Steve Beck from a screenplay written by Neal Marshall Stevens & Richard D'Ovidio based on 13 GHOSTS by Robb White. Robert Zemeckis produced with Joel Silver and Gilbert Adler. It starred Tony Shalhoub, Matthew Lillard, Shannon Elizabeth, and F. Murray Abraham. Warner Bros. Pictures unleashed the film back on October 26, 2001. THIRTEEN GHOSTS haunt Blu-ray via Scream Factory on June 9, 2020.
