Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone's name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life. Check out the first trailer for Adam Wingard's DEATH NOTE!
This Netflix original film is directed by Adam Wingard (BLAIR WITCH, THE GUEST) and stars Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley, Lakeith Stanfield, Paul Nakauchi, Shea Whigham and the sultry voice of Willem Dafoe. Death Note is one of the few Mangas I can claim to have read, and while the premise starts off pretty solid, the series got way too silly for my liking. Given that this is just one film and not a series, I'm very curious to see what direction Wingard and Co. take it.
DEATH NOTE will hit Netflix on August 25, 2017.
