Debris canceled after only one season at NBC

Even though NBC has firmed up their fall schedule for the upcoming season, they still need to make renewal choices for their on-the bubble shows. One of them was their freshman series Debris and they have now decided that it's one and done for the show. The series will not be back for a second season.

Even though the network liked the series & it received decent reviews, the decision to end the show all came down to numbers. Debris didn't get off to a great start and it simply never found its footing in the ratings. The series is averaging a 0.7 demo rating in adults 18-49 & just under 5 million viewers per episode in the Nielsen Live+7 numbers. The show just aired its now series finale on May 24, 2021, which concluded its 13-episode run.

In the series, when wreckage from a destroyed alien aircraft scatters across the Western Hemisphere, it soon becomes apparent the pieces are messing with the laws of physics, changing lives in ways we can't comprehend. Two agents (Jonathan Tucker, Riann Steele) from different continents, and different mindsets, are tasked to work together to recover the debris, whose mysteries humankind isn't quite ready for. The series also stars Norbert Leo Butz and Scroobius Pip.

NBC still has to make decisions on Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Good Girls, and Manifest. If you're a fan of these shows, it could honestly go either way. There are things working in their favor and against them so it will come down to NBC paying close attention to digital viewing as well as linear ratings.

Are YOU sad to see Debris go?
