"I'll see you again in 25 years"
That's what Laura Palmer told FBI Agent Dale Kooper (Kyle MacLachlan) in the Red Room towards the end of the original series. While it's been 26 years, and 27 when season 3 premieres, she wasn't far off.
That cryptic line is one of the few reasons why I'm excited for this TV revamp more than most remakes, reboots, or sequels out there. It seems like there was a plan all along (even if, most likely, there wasn't). Not only that, but those of us who are fans of the show know that TWIN PEAKS ended on a cliffhanger that was never resolved (hell, the subsequent film was practically a prequel!) So it's nice to know that we'll finally see a resolution to that cliffhanger, while also keeping Laura's promise (more or less).
So, speaking of the past of TWIN PEAKS, as well as it's 20+ year return, Showtime has just released a new featurette that showcases familiar faces as they talk about the legacy of TWIN PEAKS, and a tease of what to expect:
While there wasn't much new footage (mostly talking head interviews with the cast and some behind-the-scenes b-roll), or really any real indication as to what the plot might be, we do know that big things are going to happen (that is emphasized a lot), and that we're in for a lot of surprises (like for some reason f*cking Jim Belushi is in this). It also does seem everyone is excited for this new season (especially MacLachlan, who is practically teary-eyed), which hopefully bodes well for the series. Color me excited!
TWIN PEAKS season 3 will premiere on Showtime sometime early 2017.
So what do you guys think? You down for more adventures in Twin Peaks?
