Dean Koontz novel Devoted is getting a television series adaptation

Tomorrow Studios, the company behind the television shows based on the films SNOWPIERCER and HANNA, have announced that they are developing a series based on the recent Dean Koontz novel Devoted. (You can pick up a copy of Devoted HERE.)

Published in March of this year, Devoted is about

Woody Bookman, a boy who hasn’t spoken a word in his eleven years of life, and who believes a monstrous evil was behind his father’s death and now threatens him and his mother.

When Kipp, a uniquely gifted dog with a heart as golden as his breed, hears the boy, who communicates like he does without speaking, Kipp knows he needs to find him before it’s too late. Only a force greater than evil, like Kipp, can stop a man driven by malicious evil from attacking Woody and his mother.

Elements of that description bring to mind my favorite of the Koontz novels I've read, Watchers. Published in 1987 (and available to purchase HERE), Watchers was about a gifted Golden Retriever taking on the forces of evil – and it inspired a four film franchise.

Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements will be producing the Devoted series with Koontz.

Adelstein had this to say about the project:

Dean is an incredible force and his acumen for writing suspenseful thrillers with heartfelt characters and story makes him uber successful globally. We are honored to have him entrust us with the adaptation of his story and for Devoted to be the latest book rights that we’ve secured for Tomorrow Studios."

Koontz added:

The characters in Devoted are close to my heart, and it would be a career capper to see them brought to the screen."

We'll keep you updated on Devoted as the project moves forward.
