I hope they've got good cell reception in space, because DEADPOOL franchise star Brianna Hildebrand has just signed on to join the cast of PERSEPHONE, a sci-fi space adventure written and directed by Jeffrey Morris. Set in the outer reaches of our known galaxy, the upcoming film revolves around three astronauts from Colony One, a space vessel carrying 20,000 colonists from a dying Earth to the nearest star system of Alpha Centauri in the late 22nd century. The trio have been dispatched to repair a system designed to shield their new world of Proxima B — also known as Persephone — from constant and deadly solar flares, the outpost the only option for the survival of the species. While commanding a critical mission to the planet Proxima B, shuttle pilot Darcy (Hildebrand) goes head-to-head with engineer Tanya Baxter (Parker) regarding the right course of action when they discover they may not be alone on the seemingly lifeless world.
For the film, Hildebrand will play Darcy Webb, a shuttle pilot for the colony ship who was born during the fifty-year journey from Earth to Persephone. Starring alongside the Negasonic Teenage starlett for Morris' directorial debut is Mary-Louise Parker as the engineer Tanya Baxter, as well as Emile Hirsch and Malcom McDowell, in undisclosed roles. Produced by Anne Marie Gillen, John Adams and Diane Shorthouse, with Pixomondo Studios, FutureDude and Evolutionary Films, PERSEPHONE is a sci-fi tale for survival with over 20,000 lives on the line. They say that in space no one can hear you scream, but what if all of those people were to shout in unison? Surely the stars would hear their cries?
We'll be sure to keep you updated as news related to PERSEPHONE floats in.
