Clearly, in the time since we last saw Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) the foul-mouthed merc has taken on a love of the arts and all things refinement. The first teaser poster was inspired by a famous Norman Rockwell painting, “Freedom from Want”, while the actual teaser footage was a spoof of Bob Ross’ THE JOY OF PAINTING. The character is back at it again, delivering his masterpiece to everyone around the world with a little help from Cable (Josh Brolin).
Taking inspiration from Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam,” this piece finds Deadpool in his most vulnerable, and dare I say, challenging position (*sips wine*) while Cable is certainly represented here as the more masculine, almost paternal figure. Their subtle yet absorbing contact is both emotionally stimulating as well as physically unsettling. A masterwork if I ever saw one.

Here is the “plot synopsis" for DEADPOOL 2
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
The promotion for the first DEADPOOL was much more on-the-nose and embraced the R-rating, lacing its advertisements and posters with sexual innuendo. With the sequel coming the promotional material is still poking fun at itself, but now that major audiences have a better sense of the characters fourth-wall-breaking tendencies and satirical nature they can be a bit more subtle, yet still be tongue-in-cheek. I'm loving everything I've seen so far, and hopefully, we get a spoof of Da Vinci's "The Last Supper" and the "Mona Lisa".
DEADPOOL 2 from director David Leitch and starring Reynolds, Brolin, Zazie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic, Morena Baccarin and Leslie Uggams arrives June 1, 2018.
