Deadpool 3, Secret Wars, Blade & Fantastic Four get new release dates from Disney

Last Updated on October 20, 2022

It looks like Disney’s done some major restructuring of their 2024/2025 release calendar, with Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, and Blade all getting new release dates. Meanwhile, Avengers: Secret Wars has been pushed a whole year to 2026.

Deadpool 3, which is still officially called Untitled Deadpool Movie, is shifting from September 6th, 2024, to November 8th, 2024. This is arguably a more appropriate date for the big event, which is set to bring Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine into the mix. Fantastic Four previously had that date, but it will be moved to Valentine’s Day weekend, February 14th, 2025.

Meanwhile, Blade, whose production was just put on pause while Marvel recruits a new director, has been pushed back ten months. Previously dated for November 3rd, 2023, it’s getting Deadpool 3’s old September 6th, 2024 date. Meanwhile, Avengers: Secret Wars will be released a bit later, moving all the way to a May 1st, 2026 date. Its earlier date, November 7th, 2025, with be taken by an Untitled Marvel Movie.

In non-Marvel news, Kenneth Branagh’s third Hercule Poirot movie, A Haunting in Venice (just announced yesterday), will be hitting theatres sooner than expected, with it set for a September 15th, 2023 date. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which just started shooting, will be coming out on May 24th, 2024, giving it a prime Memorial Day weekend spot. Disney/ 20th Century Studios must be high on this one.

While some may roll their eyes at Disney’s ever-changing release date calendar, with dates being set far into 2026, the fact is these dates have to be claimed early. There are only so many prime weekend spots. It’s not unusual for studios to stake these out years in advance. That said, expect many of these release dates to change.
