The good word is out, ladies and gentlemen! According to Deadline, Wendy and Lizzie Molyneaux-Loeglin are set to write Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds set to reprise his role as Marvel's Merc With a Mouth.
From what we've heard so far, writer meetings have been taking place over the past month with Reynolds being front and center to hear pitches for the next chapter of Wade's wacky adventures. When all was said and done, Reynolds decreed that the Molyneaux Sisters had the best approach. The project is still in its early development stages, but the big takeaway here is that Deadpool 3 is happening and it's likely to be outrageous.
It goes without saying that there's a lot of pressure being placed on Team Deadpool for the character's next theatrical outing, seeing as his next fourth-wall-breaking box office burner will welcome Wade into the MCU. This being the case, Marvel will work alongside Reynolds to create a smooth transition from Fox's naughty R-rated landscape to the House of Mouse's more family-friendly arena. That's not to say that the next installment of Deadpool won't receive an R-rating. According to reports, the third Deadpool film is expected to receive an R rating. This is an I'll believe it when I see it kind of situation for me, but my Magic 8-Ball says the outlook is good.
For the moment, there are lots of details surrounding Deadpool 3 that still need to be ironed out, such as who will direct the next film after David Leitch, who helmed Deadpool 2. Sources close to the project say it's likely that Leitch will not direct the next chapter for Marvel, seeing as his director's dance card is quite full through all of 2021. Be that as it may, Marvel remains committed to welcoming Reynold's assassin in the red pajamas to their universe, which is bound to please fans so much that they'll need to be wearing their brown pants by the end of this article.
So, who are the Molyneaux Sisters, you ask? Currently, they serve as the creators, showrunners, and executive producers of the new Fox series The Great North, which is set to premiere in February 2021. They're also writers and executive producers of Fox's Bob's Burgers, which they won an Emmy for in 2017. In other words, Wendy and Lizzie Molyneaux know their way around the comedy bend, so we all better buckle up and get ready for Wade's wild ride!
