Deadpool 2’s Eddie Marsan joins the cast of Hobbs & Shaw

The first FAST & FURIOUS franchise spin-off, HOBBS & SHAW, is in the midst of production, but it's never too late to add another member to the cast. Eddie Marsan is set to join HOBBS & SHAW, a move which will see him reunited with David Leitch, who directed the actor in both ATOMIC BLONDE and DEADPOOL 2. Although it's not known just who Marsan will be playing, he's always a welcome addition to any movie.

HOBBS & SHAW stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, who will be reprising their FAST & FURIOUS roles of Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw respectively. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it's expected that the film will find Hobbs and Shaw forming an uneasy alliance while they go up against a bigger threat. Director David Leitch told JoBlo earlier this year that instead of fast cars and heists, the spin-off will lean more into the world of the two title characters. "I'm excited to put them in crazy situations and make them survive and see where it takes them. In the universe, they come from more the spy world and the agent world and I think we want to lean into their worlds and expand their universe as well and have fun with that," Leitch said. "Look, those movies are fun and I'm a huge fan so I'm excited to take my swing at it and do my own take." In addition to Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, HOBBS & SHAW will also star Idris Elba (STAR TREK BEYOND) as the main villain and Vanessa Kirby (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT) as an MI-5 agent who also happens to be Shaw’s sister.

Eddie Marsan will next be seen as George W. Bush's U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz in Adam McKay's VICE on December 25, 2018 and as Vihaan the Wolf in Andy Serkis' MOWGLI, which will be released on Netflix in 2019. As for HOBBS & SHAW, that film is set for a August 2, 2019 release.
