Although there has been plenty of talk about the DEADPOOL sequel from almost everyone involved with the massively successful film, 20th Century Fox hadn't yet actually confirmed that the sequel was a go, until now. At CinemaCon, Fox co-chairman Stacey Snider confirmed that the DEADPOOL sequel was officially on the way and that the entire original creative team would be returning, which means that Tim Miller will once again be filling the directors chair working from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. As for Ryan Reynolds, I suppose he'll be back as well.
As for what we can expect from the upcoming sequel, it's a safe bet that fan-favourite character Cable will be making an appearance as Tim Miller has said that "if we don’t put Cable in Deadpool 2 I think we’ll be run out of town on a rail." Fox didn't have a lot of faith in DEADPOOL while it was in development, even admitting that they didn't understand it, but now that the film has gone on to be the highest grossing R-rated film of all time, it's a safe bet that the studio will be much more enthusiastic about the franchise from here on out. However, don't expect the sequel's budget to skyrocket anytime soon, DEADPOOL screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have said that they don't believe the sequel need's a huge budget, saying "we don’t want $150 million to go make the next movie, that’s not Deadpool. Deadpool doesn’t lift cities up into the air or battle aliens coming down to earth, that’s just not Deadpool. So we’re happy in that little small budget range that they have us in; we don’t wanna blow this next one out."
