I’m really going to have to play the horror video game Dead by Daylight one of these days, aren’t I? I’ve been holding off on it for years, but they keep adding genre icons into the mix alongside the game’s original killers. Michael Myers, Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, Ghostface, Pinhead, and Chatterer are already in there, and today they’re expanding the game with Tome 10: Saw, which centers on the Saw franchise characters Amanda Young (a.k.a. The Pig here) and Detective Tapp. A trailer was released to herald the arrival of Tome 10: Saw; it can be seen in the embed above and has Tobin Bell providing the voice of Jigsaw!
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric multiplayer (4 vs. 1) game where
one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught and killed.
Coming Soon explains,
As is the case with every big Dead by Daylight content update, the latest Tome (or season) will also feature stories that expand on the lore found within the game. This Tome’s stories will all be based around Killer “The Pig” and Survivor David Tapp. Both characters will receive new, original stories as part of the update, with players also able to unlock cosmetic upgrades for their playable counterparts. These characters were originally added to Dead by Daylight in 2018 through the Saw Chapter DLC pack. This event also gives players a chance to get new outfits for those two Saw characters in addition to 60 new cosmetics.
In addition to all of the familiar genre villains Dead by Daylight has in it, the game’s list of Survivors includes characters from Halloween (Laurie Strode), The Evil Dead (Ash Williams), and Stranger Things (Nancy and Steve), among others. Somehow Quentin from the Nightmare on Elm Street remake was even given the honor of being dropped into Dead by Daylight. There are also characters from other video games, like Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
Dead by Daylight is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, the Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
