Over the years, Behaviour Interactive has collaborated with a number of horror franchises for Dead by Daylight and they announced today that Alien will officially be coming to the horror video game.
Dead by Daylight: Alien will introduce Ellen Ripley as the newest survivor alongside the Xenomorph as the latest killer. “Alien has been and continues to be one of the best sci-fi stories ever told – and to be able to collaborate with 20th Century Games on bringing this story into Dead by Daylight is a privilege for all of us at Behaviour Interactive,” said Mathieu Côté, Head of Partnerships for Behaviour Interactive.
The new map will be set against the eerie backdrop of the Nostromo wreckage with a few Dead by Daylight twists. The Xenomorph has an added advantage as it can enter and exit through tunnels underneath the map that only it can access. “Creating the Xenomorph’s Tunnel system was very challenging as we had never created a sub- level that could only be accessible to the Killer,” explains Janick Neveu, Game Designer on Dead by Daylight. “This new mechanic grants it Map-wide mobility and definitely amps up the scare factor – which feels very connected to the original character.”
The Xenomorph is a stealth killer with a power called Runner Mode which allows it to walk on four legs and become stealthier, reducing its Terror Radius considerably. There will also be a new interactive map function: Control Stations. Seven will be scattered across the map, and survivors will be able to interact with them in order to get a new tool, the Remote Flame Turret.
Some of the other horror icons who have joined Dead by Daylight include Ash Williams, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, Pinhead, Jigsaw, and more. There’s also a feature film adaptation in development by Atomic Monster and Blumhouse. Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage killer, and the other four players play as survivors, trying to escape the killer and avoid being caught, tortured and killed
Dead by Daylight: Alien will be available on all platforms on August 29th.
