Looks like another DC Comics/Vertigo character is coming to the small screen thanks to producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Len Wiseman. Deadline reports that Wiseman will helm the pilot for a series based on the Neil Gaiman-created LUCIFER.
For those familiar with Gaiman’s work, Lucifer has been a character in the SANDMAN comics as well as having his own series worked on by Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg. Here’s the synopsis for the new series from Warner Bros television.
The TV series centers on Lucifer who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.
Len Wiseman served as director on the pilots for FOX’s SLEEPY HOLLOW as well as CBS’ HAWAII FIVE-O. There is currently no network attached to LUCIFER yet, but it would make sense to end up at CBS where Bruckheimer has had several shows find success or at NBC where a fellow DC/Vertigo character resides on CONSTANTINE. In either case, this is an order for a pilot only, so we could see LUCIFER as early as the Fall season.
