DC TV News: Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow

There was a lot of news revealed surrounding the numerous DC Comics small screen franchises out there. With multiple networks airing these series, some interconnected, there was no shortage of news about the future of Supergirl, Gotham, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. Here is a brief rundown of the reveals from each show.

Gotham: Well, it is now confirmed that Cameron Monaghan‘s character from season one is in fact the small screen version of The Joker. His debut gave us a creepy backstory involving growing up in the same circus as Dick Grayson’s parents. Monaghan interrupted the panel and threatened Ben McKenzie (James Gordon) by asking if he has a high pain threshold before being dragged out. Next season is being billed as “Rise of the Villains” and hopefully that ups the quality level of the uneven debut run. Check out Monaghan in character below.

Legends of Tomorrow: The second spin-off from Arrow is being billed by creator Greg Berlanti as an OCEAN’S ELEVEN type show featuring superheroes. The show will premiere mid-season with lead in plots from both The Flash and Arrow. Hawkman was also confirmed as a new character as well.

Supergirl: We brought you a review of the pilot episode but there will be a lot more coming as the season progresses. Actor Peter Facinelli, recently in the cancelled NBC series American Odyssey and of TWILIGHT fame, will join the series as Maxwell Lord. In the comics, Lord is known for helping to form the Justice League International but will start out on Supergirl as a tech billionaire and friend to Calista Flockhart‘s Cat Grant.

The Flash: Season two has big shoes to fill after the stellar first season and the showrunners are not taking it lightly. The next run of episodes will introduce two new characters to the DC Universe, including Jay Garrick. Garrick was the first comic book version of The Flash but on the series will be a mysterious character who comes to warn Barry Allen about a threat. He will be played by Masters of Sex actor Teddy Sears. We will also be introduced to Patty Spivot, Joe West’s new partner and potential love interest for Barry Allen. She will be played by One Tree Hill actress Shantel VanSanten.

Arrow: We learned on Friday that Neal McDonough will join season four as main baddie Damien Darhk, but we will also see the inclusion of Batman villain Anarky as well as Mr. Terrific. The big news was the reveal of Oliver Queen’s new costume which is looking closer to Green Arrow than we have ever seen before. Check it out below.

Exciting news for all of these shows. With another day left of Comic Con, our team in San Diego will continue to bring you the big news as it develops.
