Our Deconstructing… video series has covered some of the greatest horror movies ever made, from John Carpenter’s Halloween and The Thing to Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street, Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead II, Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and George A. Romero‘s Night of the Living Dead. And with the new episode of the show, we’re digging into another one of the all-time greats: Romero’s Dawn of the Dead (get it HERE)! This past weekend, thousands of Dead fans made their way through the Monroeville Mall, where Dawn of the Dead was filmed, to celebrate Romero’s career and legacy at the Living Dead Weekend convention, so this feels like the perfect time to give Dawn of the Dead the Deconstructing… treatment.
Dawn of the Dead has the following synopsis:
As hordes of zombies swarm over the U.S., the terrified populace tries everything in their power to escape the attack of the undead, but neither cities nor the countryside prove safe. In Pennsylvania, radio-station employee Stephen and his girlfriend, Francine, escape in the station helicopter, accompanied by two renegade SWAT members, Roger and Pete. The group retreats to the haven of an enclosed shopping center to make what could be humanity’s last stand.
The film stars Ken Foree, Scott Reiniger, Gaylen Ross, and David Emge.
Deconstructing… is a web series in which
we choose one of your favorite horror movies and take it apart piece by piece (lovingly, of course) to see what makes it a classic. Each episode examines the origins, legacy and mysteries behind our beloved genre’s most iconic titles… but we play fast and loose with the rules, so expect the unexpected!
The show is Written, Edited, and Narrated by Gregory Burkart, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
