Now that most of you have had the chance to read through the stage play, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, it's to jump back on the cinema side of everything Harry Potter! We may not have any new adventures featuring the titular character, but it looks like FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM's lead character, Newt Scamander, will be back for at least one more installment. Warner Bros. officially announced that David Yates will be directing FANTASTIC BEASTS 2, with a script by J.K. Rowling, and that the film will open in theaters on November 16, 2018.

Warner Bros. on FANTASTIC BEASTS 2:

The second “Fantastic Beasts” movie moves deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our other heroes have to decide on their allegiances.

It's long been said that FANTASTIC BEASTS would be a trilogy, but nothing is ever a sure thing in Hollywood. I personally thought WB would wait to see how BEASTS performed before green-lighting a sequel, but it looks like they have faith their product and the creative team that is director David Yates and creator/screenwriter J.K. Rowling.

FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM will open on November 18, 2016, while the sequel will hit theaters on November 16, 2018.
