David Tennant and Michael Sheen are quite the pair in new Good Omens images

Among the many television series that have staked a claim at this year's New York City Comic Con event, Amazon's GOOD OMENS is without a doubt one of the most anticipated by fans of all things fantasy. Published over 30 years ago by literary legends Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Good Omens tells the story of an angel named Aziraphale (Micheal Sheen) and a demon named Crowley (David Tennant), an odd couple who find themselves on opposite sides of an oncoming apocalypse.

Today, Entertainment Weekly treated fans to a par of new photos from the upcoming television series, which give us our best looks yet at a few of the fantasy drama's key players. In the first image, we find Sheen's innocent-looking Airaphale and Tennant's devilishly-clever Crowley exiting a flight of steps, no doubt on their way to make mischief for mortals.

“Nobody else knows what it’s like to be a supernatural being on Earth amongst humans, so that bonds them in a special way,” Sheen told EW.

“It’s such a unique world that he and Terry have created,” Tennant added. “If anyone else had taken it on, I don’t think we could have captured the real quirky essence of it.”

In the second new photo, we find guest star Jon Ham as the archangel Gabriel and Francis McDormand as as the voice of God. The two could not be less suited to work alongside one another, yet the series plans to deliver plenty of other outlandish pairings as the story continues. Trust me, you're going to meet some real gems by the time GOOD OMENS is through.

“There’s something wonderful about playing a supernatural character,” Tennant told the entertainment outlet. “You’re freed from some of the restraints of some of the psychological straight lines that you might have to apply to a human being. Although at the same time, Aziraphale and Crowley are very human.”

“They both started off as angels, but one of them went a slightly different way,” Sheen adds. “So I think it’s interesting that the longer they’ve spent together and the longer they’ve spent on Earth, they’ve sort of knocked the edges off and become a little more like each other than they might have been.”

GOOD OMENS isn't expected to arrive on Amazon Prime until 2019, which gives everyone plenty of time to pick up the classic novel and give it a read. Gaiman and Pratchett's collaborative effort is simply divine, with plenty of blasphemous laughs to keep you in stitches until the very last page. Enjoy the ride, sinners and angels alike.
