Welp, Happy Madison is at it again with another comedy set to make its debut via Netflix. Directed by Tyler Spindel, FATHER OF THE YEAR stars SNL alum David Spade, Nat Faxon, Joey Bragg, Matt Shively and Bridgit Mendler.
Here's the log-line for the movie:
When two buddies' drunken debate about whose father would win in a fight is taken seriously by one of their fathers, things go bad. Jobs are lost, relationships ruined, futures destroyed, and middle-aged men are knocked out. In this coming of age story about two recent college graduates spending a few weeks at home before they move to New York, our best friends come to grips with who their fathers really are as they start to see the world with adult eyes.
While I agree that a lot can happen over the course of just one Summer, I'm thinking that Spade's Wayne character is going to need a bit more time to earn the title of Father of the Year. I'll say this much, though. I kind of dig his pick-up truck pool idea. I'm not sure that it would work for too long, but I'll be damned if it doesn't have the potential to get the job done on those particularly scorching Summer days. Maybe he's onto something? Probably not.
FATHER OF THE YEAR is set to make its Netflix debut beginning on July 20th.
