No, I refuse to call it 5NAL DESTINATION. Now on to the news at hand. Back in mid-August Eric Walkuski spilled the beans on who had the first role in the latest installment of mindless deaths. Miles Fisher’s got it in the bag so who else would be willing to cheat death…and then fail miserably in their second round?
It’s been reported that FIVE new actors have decided to partake in being chopped, ground, burnt, impaled, skinned, shat out, ran over and juiced in next year’s sequel. Come to think of it, we’ve already accomplished some of those. Bloody-Disgusting reports that Nicholas D’Agosto (SUPERNATURAL), Ellen Wroe, Meghan Ory (DARK HOUSE), David Koechner (SNAKES ON A PLANE) and Arlen Escarpeta (FRIDAY THE 13TH) have been confirmed to star in FINAL DESTINATION 5. I can understand the slew of “young” adults ready to rock but Koechner? The guy’s hilarious. If his character involves him cracking a few jokes during sadistically good scenes then I’m totally down. Eric Heisserer (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, THE THING) is writing the screenplay while James Cameron’s right hand man during AVATAR, Steven Quale, will be directing the film using the latest 3D technology. Figures.
So how about this team eh? Potential? Potentially bad? We’ve got exactly 365 days left until the release of FINAL DESTINATION 5 this day next year. Some cool notes about the film are, if you didn’t know about it already, a nice opening scene involving a suspension bridge disaster and eye surgery gone wrong. This is just me but I’m actually rooting for those scenes to be in 3D. Eye surgery…who would’ve thought? I’m sure the effects could just burn a hole right through your eyes (Pun very intended).
