David Gordon Green reveals his favorite kill in Halloween

**Spoilers for HALLOWEEN**

There are tons of cool kills in the new HALLOWEEN movie, from traditional knife slashes to gleefully violent head smashes. As much as the movie favors suspense, there is a good amount of gore to be seen – and it’s all awesome. But everyone has their one, absolute favorite kill, and for director David Gordon Green his is one he finally got a chance to shoot after waiting over a decade for the opportunity.

The filmmaker was speaking on a bonus feature for the movie’s upcoming home release (a current exclusive for Bloody Disgusting), where writers Jeff Fradley and Danny McBride also talk about deaths on screen. For Green, the death of innocent, awkward Oscar (Drew Scheid), is his favorite, mostly because the thought of such a demise has lingered in his mind for years.

It's based on an idea I've been haunted by for 15 years. I've thought for over a decade that if I ever made a horror movie, I would have to include that moment.

The death, in particular, involves Oscar, having just embarrassed himself him trying to kiss Allyson (Andi Matichak), sitting on a stranger’s lawn in shame. After struggling to get up he sees Michael Myers watching him. The killer moves in closer as the sensor lights go on and off, with Oscar bolting and trying to hop the fence. His Dracula cape (it *is* Halloween, after all) caught on the fence, Myers is able to catch up (despite his usual slow walk), then slams his head through the fence’s spikes. Thus, is the tale of Oscar.

Green's favorite kill is a worthy selection indeed, but my personal favorite is when Michael squashes the head of Dr. Sartain (Haluk Bilginer) with his big boot. That one, though, it purely from shock value. In terms of direction, Oscar's death is better crafted, with Green creating a terrifying amount of suspense via the sensor lights. It's a great, scary, bloody scene, and I can't wait to watch it again.
