David Duchovny has taken on a lot of supernatural and mystical forces while on the hit series THE X-FILES, and now all that training and experience have led him to his newest run-in with dark forces: high school witches. The actor famous for playing Fox Mulder on X-FILES and Hank Moody in CALIFORNICATION has now been cast in Blumhouse’s upcoming remake of the 1996 hit THE CRAFT in an undisclosed role.

Duchovny joins the younger cast who will play the four witches – Cailee Spaeny, Gideon Adlon, Lovie Simone, and Zoey Luna – in the new movie set to be written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones (BAND AID). The original film follows Robin Tunney’s Sarah Bailey who starts at a new Catholic school and makes friends with three other girls considered outcasts by the other students, (played by Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True), and who also happen to practice witchcraft and use their spells for personal gain and vengeance.
Duchovny has kept busy over the years with his work in TV and movies, having won Golden Globes for his work on X-FILES and CALIFORNICATION. He most recently reprised the role of Mulder for the new seasons of X-FILES with Gillian Anderson, as well as having a role in the continuation of David Lynch's TWIN PEAKS. No word yet on who he will play in the new movie, but assumptions could be made he will play one of the parents of the girls or a teacher of some sort. That or the young coven decides to make an exception and let Duchovny join given that he's, you know, David Duchovny.
Speaking of the said coven, Lister-Jones posted a picture of her with the group a few days ago, writing, "The coven has landed."
