David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are “on board” for more X-Files

The X-Files David Duchovny Gillian Anderson Chris Carter Season 12

Although 2016 has brought, and will bring, bigger and more impressive feats of entertainment, I was looking forward to Fox's revival of The X-Files almost more than anything else. It's always dangerous to let the hype surrounding a project get the better of you as more often than not, it leads to disappointment. It's probably safe to say that The X-Files revival was one of those project which didn't live up to the hype. The revival wasn't without its charm however and seeing Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) together again was almost worth the price of admission. The six-episode series was a ratings success for Fox so naturally, they're eager to return for another season.

Nothing is official yet, but TVLine reports that Fox chairman and CEO Dana Walden has confirmed that there have been "conversations" with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as well as series creator Chris Carter.

I believe everyone is on board to do another installment of the show. Hopefully, this time next year we will have more news.

Both Duchovny and Anderson are quite busy with their own projects, so I'd imagine that the only stumbling block at this point is trying to find a period in which they'd both be available to step back into Chris Carter's world. I wasn't quite as disappointed with the new season as others were, but even still, I can recognize that there's plenty of room for improvement, which I hope Carter and company are aware of. Alex Maidy reviewed The X-Files while it aired, and you can check those reviews out right here!
