Over the years, David Dastmalchian has proven himself to be a very welcome addition to any movie. THR has now reported that David Dastmalchian’s latest project will see him joining forces with Keira Knightly for a movie based on the infamous Boston Strangler murders.

Boston Strangler will tell the true story of Loretta McLaughlin, who was “the first reporter to connect the murders and break the story of the Strangler. She and fellow reporter Jean Cole challenged the sexism of the early 1960s to report on the city’s most notorious serial killer and worked tirelessly to keep women informed. Loretta pursued the story at great personal risk and uncovered corruption that cast doubt on the true identity of the Boston Strangler.” Keira Knightley will star as McLaughlin in Boston Strangler, which is set to be written and directed by Matt Ruskin (Crown Heights) for 20th Century Studios. McLaughlin did plenty of research for the project, including tracking down the families of Loretta McLaughlin and Jean Cole to gain access to their actual research from over 60 years ago. It’s not known who David Dastmalchian will be playing in the Boston Strangler movie, but THR describes his role as “pivotal.

In addition to Keira Knightley and David Dastmalchian, the Boston Strangler movie is also set to star Carrie Coon (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Alessandro Nivola (The Many Saints of Newark), and Chris Cooper (Homecoming). That’s shaping up to be one hell of a cast. Production on the movie is slated to kick off in Boston in December.

David Dastmalchian has certainly had an eventful year; in addition to stealing the show as Polka-Dot Man in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, he also played Piter De Vries in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Dastmalchian also recently wrapped filming on The Last Voyage of Demeter, a horror film directed by André Øvredal (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) that tells of the doomed vessel that transported Dracula from Transylvania to England.
