David Dastmalchian reunites with Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer movie

It’s been fifteen years since David Dastmalchian appeared in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, but the actor is finally set to reunite with the director who launched his career. THR has reported that David Dastmalchian, most recently seen in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and Dennis Villeneuve’s Dune, is the latest actor to join the ensemble cast of the Oppenheimer movie from Christopher Nolan.

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer started production last week with Cillian Murphy playing J. Robert Oppenheimer, one of the fathers of the atomic bomb. In addition to David Dastmalchian, the all-star cast also includes Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Alden Ehrenreich, and David Krumholtz. It’s not known who Dastmalchian will be playing, but he’s always a welcome addition to any movie in my opinion.

David Dastmalchian was active in the theater scene when he first saw a casting notice for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. After auditioning for the part of one of the men involved in the opening bank heist, Dastmalchian was disappointed when he didn’t get the part, but months later, he received a call saying that he’d been cast as the Joker’s henchman, Thomas Schiff. Even know, David Dastmalchian credits Christopher Nolan with changing his life. “It all started with him choosing to let me be a part of that film,” Dastmalchian told THR in 2018. “How do you thank the person that changed your life so profoundly?Oppenheimer has been described as an “epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.” The film is slated to hit theaters on July 21, 2023.
