Writer-director David Bruckner has become a pretty prominent genre presence recently. On the strength of his "Amateur Night" segment in V/H/S, he briefly snagged the gig to direct the ill-fated FRIDAY THE 13TH movie, but his work has also been appreciated in his debut feature THE SIGNAL and – most recently – the roadside anthology SOUTHBOUND.
However, now that his involvement with FRIDAY THE 13TH is caput, he's moving on to a different feature project: the sci-fi thriller OSWALD, which he is set to write and direct.
The plot is currently under wraps, but Epic Pictures producer Shaked Berenson says:
While a true thriller, I think Oswald will also get a lot of people thinking about how they view the advancements of tech.
That sounds a little Black Mirror-y, which is definitely intriguing. So far, although most of his work has been short-form, his ideas are fun genre exercises and I can't wait to see what he does with room to breathe in a feature. More details as this story breaks!
