Dave Bautista to play The Kurgan in Summit Entertainment’s Highlander reboot

Summit Entertainment's HIGHLANDER reboot is still looking for its Connor MacLeod, but according to LR, the film has found its The Kurgan in the form of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY's Dave Bautista. Played by Clancy Brown in the 1986 film, The Kurgan is a violent barbarian who seeks to be the only immortal left on earth.

This is another big villain role for Bautista, who will be playing Tong Po in the KICKBOXER remake, and henchman Mr. Hinx in the upcoming Bond movie SPECTRE.

Tom Cruise was approached to play the Sean Connery mentor role in the reboot a few months ago, but we haven't heard anything since that was reported, so he more than likely decided to pass on the project. As for MacLeod, last year first time director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan said he wanted a "younger emerging guy" for the role.

At this point, I'm done getting pissy about remakes/reboots. I do think it's ridiculous that there are so many in the works, but it's not as if bitching and moaning about them will stop the films from happening. All I can do is expect the worst, pray for the best, and hope they don't taint the original movies. It's a hell of a lot better (and healthier) than blowing a gasket every time one is announced. And who knows, maybe Cedric Nicolas-Troyan will do an awesome job with his HIGHLANDER reboot.

Dave Bautista is currently filming for SPECTRE, which will be in theaters on November 6, 2015.
