Several days ago, Sony Pictures and Blumhouse Productions tapped Michael Peña (ANT-MAN AND THE WASP) to play Mister Roarke in their big-screen reimagining of Fantasy Island, and now it appears as though Dave Bautista (AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR) could be joining him.
THR reports that Dave Bautista is currently in negotiations to join FANTASY ISLAND, which is being described as a "tonal mix" between Westworld and THE CABIN IN THE WOODS. The film will center on a group of contest winners who arrive on the titular island in order to live out their dreams, but instead find themselves trapped in various nightmare scenarios. Should Dave Bautista officially sign on, he would play a former guest who is being held on the island against his will and wants nothing more than to expose Roarke and the magical secrets of the island. Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley) also recently joined FANTASY ISLAND as Brax, "a guest who travels to the island with his older adoptive brother with the wish of 'having it all.' What the mild-mannered Brax doesn't realize is that when you have it all, there is someone who wants what you have." TRUTH OR DARE director Jeff Wadlow will helm the film from a script he's writing with Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs.
Dave Bautista will next be seen on the big-screen reprising his role of Drax in AVENGERS 4 on May 3, 2019.
