Darren Aronofsky's sophmore 2000 feature REQUIEM FOR A DREAM – while not explicitly a horror film – definitely was something nightmares were made of. Dealing with various forms of drug abuse, and the tragic issues that arise from it, the film rose above its potential after school special premise to be something truly artistic and memorable due to Aronofsky's striking visuals and the cast's brave commitment.
Now the film is getting a director's cut, as well as 4K HD Blu-Ray! You can watch the trailer for it at the top of the article, and here's the official synopsis:
The film depicts four characters affected by drug addiction and how it alters their physical and emotional state. Their addictions cause them to become imprisoned in a world of delusion and desperation. As the film progresses, each character deteriorates, and their reality is overtaken by delusion, resulting in catastrophe.
Meanwhile, REQUIEM FOR A DREAM DIRECTOR'S CUT – starring Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans – will be available on 4K Blu-Ray October 13th (PRE-ORDER HERE!)
