Darren Aronofsky dipped his toe into sci-fi with the future scenes from his THE FOUNTAIN, but he might be diving head first into the genre for his follow-up to NOAH. The Wrap is reporting the director is interested in a spec-script from David Weil called MOONFALL. Weils wrote the 2013 Black List script HALF HEARD IN THE STILLNESS, and his MOONFALL is being described as a FARGO-esque thriller set on the moon.
However, Darren Aronofsky isn't the only one who is impressed with David Weil's script. The Wrap says Hollywood has been buzzing about his script this week, and several top filmmakers are also considering the project. Although Darren Aronofsky has had conversations about the material, he isn't a lock to direct or produce MOONFALL.
The only project Darren Aronofsky is currently attached to is HBO's MaddAddam Trilogy adaptation, so it's not like he'll be too busy to tackle MOONFALL, however we don't know just how interested he is in directing the film. I would love to see Darren Aronofsky behind the camera for an original sci-fi movie, and I really do hope his next film will be MOONFALL.
Darren Aronofsky's NOAH will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on July 29, 2014.
