Darren Aronofsky bringing MaddAddam book trilogy to HBO

HBO is moving forward with a TV adaptation of Margaret Atwood's futuristic sci-fi book series MADDADDAM. Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky is set to executive produce while possibly taking a turn at directing the series. Atwood will serve as a consulting producer on the project.

Here is more on the trilogy, ORYX AND CAKE, YEAR OF THE FLOOD, and MADDADDAM:

Set in the mid-21st century in a world where corporations have taken over for governments and the genetic modification of organisms is perversely ubiquitous. It centers on the events before and after a Waterless Flood that wipes out almost all of the world's population and follows an extensive cast of characters, including those responsible for the apocalypse and those struggling to survive it.

Aronofsky has had major success with his last few projects like THE WRESTLER, BLACK SWAN and this year’s NOAH. I see no better place for his skill creatively then at HBO where they tend to go for quality first. I’ve never read the dystopian trilogy but it definitely fits a trend of recent releases we are seeing in theaters; the future is bleak, we get it. Being a fellow Canadian I can tell you that Atwood is a treasure in these parts so all I have is possible bias reviews, but these books are supposed to be awesome.

Has anyone read the series? Do you think it will adapt well to television?
