This past weekend we shared the unfortunate news that original SUSPIRIA director Dario Argento is not a fan of director Luca Guadagnino's recent (stellar) remake. Recently in an interview with Radio Rai 1’s Un Giorno da Pecora, Argento said the remake did not excite him and – get this – he says it betrayed the spirit of the original. Ouch. As a fan of Argento, I feel the man can feel however he wants about the remake so fair enough.
But speaking of being a fan of all things Dario Argento, today we have word via our buddies over at B-D that Argento is currently working on his next film! He says that he’s working on a new movie and that he’s soon meeting with the writers to discuss the project. On top of that, Argento revealed that he didn't approve of the project's current, so it's currently untitled.
I wish we knew more info to share with you guys at this point, but we will make sure to keep up to date on the next Argento movie and pass along word as soon as we hear it. Until then, make sure to hit us up and let us know what YOU thought of the SUSPIRIA remake below!
Argento's last film was DRACULA 3D back in 2012. That film followed this synopsis:
Count Dracula (Thomas Kretschmann) wants to sink his fangs into Mina Harker (Marta Gastini), who resembles the vampire's late wife.
DRACULA 3D was directed by Dario Argento from a screenplay written by Argento, Enrique Cerezo, Stefano Piani, and Antonio Tentori based on the novel by Bram Stoker. Enrique Cerezo, Roberto Di Girolamo, Sergio Gobbi, Franco Paolucci, and Giovanni Paolucci produced the movie which starred Thomas Kretschmann, Marta Gastini, Asia Argento, Unax Ugalde, Miriam Giovanelli, and Rutger Hauer.
