Take this one with a massive grain of salt, people. Production Weekly reports that a project called “DAREDEVIL REBOOT” is in development for Disney Plus. No further information is available, with the synopsis printed in the trade journal identical to the official one circulated for the Netflix show when it debuted a few years ago. Given that Charlie Cox is definitively the MCU’s Daredevil, with his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home making it official, it seems unlikely that the character would be “rebooted” in any significant way unless they’re looking to take advantage of the multiverse.
That said, it’s entirely possible that this “Daredevil Reboot” is actually a new season, or rather a continuation of the original Netflix series, which is now streaming on Disney Plus. For its time, it was a pretty adult-oriented show, and should it continue on Disney Plus, it’s likely to be in a toned-down form, which Charlie Cox himself addressed recently, saying:
“I wouldn’t put it past the folks at Marvel to be able to accomplish that. I’m such a fan of everything they’ve done so far, I wouldn’t underestimate them at all. So if they wanted to make a more PG version of Daredevil, I back them to find a way to do where it feels totally in keeping with everything we’ve done. And maybe there’s a little less blood, maybe there’s a little whatever, but I back them to do it.”
In the meantime, you can watch the complete Daredevil, uncensored, along with all of the other Netflix Marvel shows (Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, The Defenders, Iron Fist) on their new Disney Plus home, even if this decision has the Parents Television Council clutching their pearls a bit.
Would you watch a toned-down Daredevil reboot if it streamed on Disney+?
