Update: In the wake of DAREDEVIL's cancelltion on Netflix, Marvel has issued a statement about the beloved superhero series, indicating that the House of Mouse may not be done with the Devil of Hell's Kitchen just yet.
You can read Marvel's full statement below:
Marvel is extremely grateful to the huge audience that loved Marvel’s Daredevil. From the moment of young Matt’s first act of heroism to the birth of Page, Murdock, & Nelson, it has been a unbelievable journey. We are incredibly proud of the amazing showrunners and writers starting with Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight, Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie and Erik Oleson, Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio and our casts who brought our characters to life with such excellence, and every one of the fantastic crews in NYC. We look forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future.
While the above sentiment is all well and good, it still does not paint a clear picture of what lies ahead for The Man Without Fear. Will Matt show up in future Disney + programming? Will Disney reboot the character for another solo series? Is it possible for Disney to adopt the whole package, untouched? Your guess is as good as mine, right now, and the kill is still quite fresh for Marvel and Netflix's first collaborative effort.

By now, you've likely heard the distressing news that Netflix has cancelled Marvel's DAREDEVIL after its third season. Now, I don't mean to kick a great show when it's down, but more news related to the cancellation has come to light. In addition to DAREDEVIL's demise coming as a shock to fans of The Man Without Fear, DAREDEVIL co-executive producer Sam Ernst recently revealed via Twitter that his team had major plans for Season 4.
Late last night, Ernst tweeted the following about his frustrations with the unfortunate news:
As the evening progressed, Ernst continued to talk about DAREDEVIL by responding to a series of fan-related tweets. In the midst of his conversations, he addressed the idea of the show being picked up by another network. Unfortunately, Ernst explained that his hands are more or less tied when it comes to that aspect of the business.
In addition to lamenting that loss of DAREDEVIL, Ernst offered a heartfelt shout out to his hard working assistants, who he says "kill themselves to get this job." Ernst then continued to explain that he's had the pleasure of working beside some very dedicated people who work their asses off for no money. He says that they're there to learn and be a part of something special.
Later, as a way of thanking the show's dedicated fans, the official DAREDEVIL Instagram account posted a touching photo of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), enjoying a fine meal and perhaps making plans for a future we might never get to see. Included on the Polaroid image are the words "JUSTICE NEVER STOPS." * Sniff * What? I'm not crying. You're the one who's crying!
Up next for Ernst is an Apple-produced project called ARE YOU SLEEPING. The upcoming series stars Octavia Spencer, Lizzy Caplan, Aaron Paul, Elizabeth Perkins, and Mekhi Phifer. As for DAREDEVIL, I think they jury is still out on that one. Perhaps we'll see it return via Disney +, perhaps not. Either way, we should all pour ourselves a tasty beverage and cheers to the good times we've had with Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson: Avocados at law.
