A report earlier this morning revealed major issues with Daredevil: Born Again, with Marvel Studios reportedly choosing to search for new writers and directors to take over the series from scratch. Vincent D’Onofrio, who reprises his role of Wilson Fisk in the new Daredevil series, took to X/Twitter to comment on the news, assuring fans that it would result in the best show possible.

We are going to bring forward the best series we can. One we can be proud of,” Vincent D’Onofrio said of Daredevil: Born Again. “Every cool project I’ve been involved with has evolved constantly during pre-production, production and post. It’s just reported on these days as if it’s big news. It’s not. It’s simple a bunch of creatives doing their best to get it right. It’s a constant in this business. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Frankly I’d be worried if we were settling for less.

Daredevil: Born Again had shot a little less than half its episodes before it shut down due to the WGA strike. It was during that time that Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios reviewed the footage and decided it just wasn’t working. Head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were let go, and while some scenes and perhaps even whole episodes will be kept, it sounds like a major retooling will be underway. According to THR’s report, “Corman and Ord crafted a legal procedural that did not resemble the Netflix version, known for its action and violence. Cox didn’t even show up in costume until the fourth episode. Marvel, after greenlighting the concept, found itself needing to rethink the original intention of the show.

Marvel’s more recent movies and TV shows haven’t enjoyed the same level of praise as their previous projects, but we’ve seen the studio make a bigger effort to correct the problem. This will hopefully mean a return to quality and not just quantity, as I’m sure fans would rather have a couple of great projects each year rather than a handful of middling ones.
