Daredevil: Born Again: the Disney+ show adds Nikki M. James to the cast in an undisclosed role

Deadline has just learned that Tony Award-winning actress Nikki M. James has been cast in the upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. The new Marvel extended universe series continues the adventures of the Man Without Fear in Hell’s Kitchen, New York, and will see the return of Charlie Cox in the titular role. There is yet to be any information on who James is set to portray on the show.

In the usual Marvel fashion, they are keeping details under wraps and declined to comment to Deadline. James is known for her work on the immensely popular Broadway musical, The Book of Mormon by South Park co-creator Trey Parker. The actress won a Tony Award for her turn as Nabalungi in the musical in the “Best Featured Actress in a Musical” category. She is also recently seen in the world premiere production of Suffs from Shaina Taub at The Public Theater.

Currently, James can be seen in the new film Spoiler Alert from Focus Features, which had opened this past Christmas. She is also featured in other TV work, which includes the wildly popular Severance on Apple TV+, Proven Innocent, which airs on the FOX network, as well as the CBS series, Braindead. James is also a director. Credits under her belt include episodes for shows like The Bite and The Good Fight (rhyme not intended). On the theatre front, she also served as an assistant director to Michael Arden for the Broadway revival of the plays, Once On This Island and A Christmas Carol, which stars Jefferson Mays.

Fans have been anticipating the new Daredevil since its original distributor, Netflix, gave it and other Marvel shows the axe after three seasons. Matt Murdock made his first official entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Daredevil made an appearance in the Disney+ series, She-Hulk. Since then, it was announced there would be a continuation and feature not only the return of Cox, but Vincent D’Onofrio as The Kingpin.

There have been no announcements for the return of love interest, Karen Page, as well as Elektra, but Tatiana Maslany teases Charlie Cox for a cameo as She-Hulk, as he is excited for the possibilities.
