Sharknado has been back in the news this year, since 2023 marks the tenth anniversary of the goofball shark movie’s initial release – so it’s fitting that Sharknado director Anthony C. Ferrante also has multiple new movies making their way out into the world this year. The latest Ferrante joint is the horror film Dante’s Hotel, which is set to be released through the Tubi streaming service this Friday, October 13th. With its premiere just three days off, a trailer for Dante’s Hotel has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
Scripted by Ferrante and William C. Martell, Dante’s Hotel has the following synopsis: When an unknown assailant preys on the patrons of a haunted hotel, an event planner teams up with a mysterious tenant whose dark past is the key to freeing the cursed hotel.
AnnaLynne McCord (Excision), Judd Nelson (The Breakfast Club), Moon Bloodgood (Falling Skies), Ted Raimi (Ash vs. Evil Dead), Emilio Rivera (Mayans M.C.), and Kevin Porter (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) star.
Ferrante, who used to write for Fangoria magazine back in the day, didn’t just direct the first Sharknado, he was also at the helm for the increasingly over-the-top sequels: Sharknado 2: The Second One, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, and The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time. In addition to those, he has also directed Boo, Headless Horseman, Hansel & Gretel, Forgotten Evil, Zombie Tidal Wave, Another Mother, Beaus of Holly, Triple Threat, Time Pirates, Nix, Crown Prince of Christmas, and the 2023 releases Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch, Butch vs. Sundance, and Blind Waters – that last one being a shark thriller that just premiered on Tubi a couple months ago.

I was sold on this movie as soon as I saw the cast list, but the fact that it appears to be a slasher makes me even more interested in checking it out.
