Danny McBride, an actor best known for his comedic roles, has been getting a good amount of attention from us here on Arrow in the Head lately, starting when he took on a role in ALIEN: COVENANT and continuing with the very unexpected news that he is one of the writers of Blumhouse's upcoming HALLOWEEN sequel. Now he's given us another reason to give himĀ some coverage: the dark comedy ARIZONA.
ARIZONA is closer to McBride's usual output than HALLOWEEN, but it still features violence, bloodshed, and murder.
Scripted by Luke Del Tredici, ARIZONA marks the feature directorial debut of Jonathan Watson, who served as first assistant director or second unit director on several previous McBride projects. The story is setĀ
in the midst of the 2009 housing crisis and follows Cassie Fowler, a single mom and struggling realtor whose life goes off the rails when she witnesses a murder.
McBride's co-stars include Rosemarie DeWitt, Luke Wilson, Lolli Sorenson, Elizabeth Gillies, and Kaitlin Olson.
RLJE Films will be giving ARIZONA a theatrical and VOD release on August 24th.
With the release less than two weeks away, a trailer has arrived online to give a preview of the funny but terrifying shenanigans McBride's character gets up to. I'm a fan of dark comedy, and this one looks very appealing to me.
