Danny McBride says new Halloween will be dark & vicious

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

Last night the hollowed grounds of horror shook as the master himself John Carpenter took to his Facebook to announce not only had the new HALLOWEEN been given a release date, but also that the film would be directed by David Gordon Green and co-written by Green and none other than Kenny Fuc*ing Powers himself Danny McBride.

Talk about epic, unexpected news!

We heard Carpenter's side of things, but today we get an update on David Gordon Green and Danny McBride with their thoughts on the announcement.

Director David Gordon Green:

John Carpenter’s Halloween was a monumental horror film experience for me and millions of film fans. It’s an honor to be working with this creative team to carve a new path in the tale of Michael Myers.

Co-Writer Danny McBride:

David and I are thrilled to step outside of our comedic collaborations and dive into a dark and vicious horror. Nobody will be laughing.

Long-time HALLOWEEN producer Malek Akkad:

It’s been a long journey with many starts and stops, but I can honestly say that I’ve never been more excited than by the team that we have assembled for the new ‘Halloween’. I truly feel this film will thrill fans, old and new, as well as being a high point in this legendary franchise.

Blumhouse's own Jason Blum even took to Twitter to post the first pic of the "Halloween Team".

And just for fun, here are fellow horror directors Ti West (HOUSE OF THE DEVIL) and Mike Flanagan's (HUSH, OCULUS) reactions.

Very cool news all around and great to see the enthusiasm and support reaching up through the fan base all the way to the top names in horror today. Flanagan is an especially interesting response being that he was rumored to be the man to take the helm back a few months ago.

Now we just have to wait for Mr. Rob Zombie to chime in with HIS thoughts…
