Either it just got real hot in here, or FX has officially ordered a pilot featuring characters that hail from the fiery depths of Hell, where wicked souls go to be punished for all eternity. I'm talking about LITTLE DEMON, a half-hour animated comedy starring Danny DeVito, his daughter Lucy DeVito and Aubrey Plaza. The concept comes from DeVito’s Jersey Films 2nd Avenue, ShadowMachine and FX Productions, with RICK AND MORTY co-creator Dan Harmon serving as the show's executive producer.
Created by Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner and Kieran Valla, in LITTLE DEMON, 13 years after being impregnated by the Devil (Danny DeVito), a reluctant mother (Plaza) and her Antichrist daughter (Lucy DeVito) attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware, but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter’s soul.
Executive producing alongside Harmon are Fowler, Kirschner, Valla, Plaza, and Jersey Films 2nd Avenue’s Jake, Lucy, and Danny DeVito, and ShadowMachine’s Monica Mitchell, Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley. Meanwhile, Steve Levy will produce.
Word has it that LITTLE DEMON will go into production as early as next week, with the project having been in-the-works since last summer. Thankfully, despite wide-spread production shutdowns for live-action films and television series, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, artists and animators have been able to exercise their talents while working remotely from the safety of their homes.
Well I'll be damned, this project had me at Aubrey Plaza, but then they went and sweetened the pot by adding DeVito's name to the cast list! Someone down there likes me, and I didn't even have to sell my soul to get this deal done. Seeing as good news is in short supply these days, I'll happily spread this information like a … Nah, I'm not going to go there. I almost did. But I won't.
We'll be sure to bring you more details about FX's LITTLE DEMON when it arrives. Until then, stay cool out there.
