Reports from the production of BOND 25 have recently surfaced stating that Danny Boyle, who had signed on as director of the next chapter of the James Bond franchise, is stepping away from the project. Word of Boyle's departure came by way of producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, who announced the 28 DAYS LATER and TRAINSPOTTING helmer's departure via the official James Bond Twitter account. Boyle is citing "creative differences" as his reason for leaving the highly-anticipated project.
How Boyle's exit from the film will influence the action spy drama's November 8, 2019 release date (October 25, 2019 in the UK) has yet to become clear, though this latest development is sure to upset fans who for some time have been looking forward to seeing his take on the legendary character. For the moment, Craig is still locked and loaded to play Bond for a fifth turn. Another head scratcher remains, though. Now that Boyle is out, what will become of the script penned by John Hodge, who wrote the screenplay based on an idea by Boyle? Will the studio revert back to the version that was written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who delivered several of the recent Bond installements with CASINO ROYALE, QUANTUM OF SOLACE, SKYFALL and SPECTRE? Also, with Boyle out, who will replace him as director? Perhaps the studio will reach out to one of their previous hopefuls with Denis Villeneuve, David Mackenzie, or Yann Demange?
