I watched JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM last year, but the latest casting news for JURASSIC WORLD 3 makes me realize I don't actually remember all that much about the movie.
Jeff Sneider over at Collider got word that FALLEN KINGDOM cast members Danielle Pineda and Justice Smith will be returning for the new sequel, reprising the roles of Zia Rodriguez and Franklin Webb… and while I know they were in the movie and I'm not surprised they're coming back, I don't remember anything specific that they did. I think Zia was tough and Franklin was scared.
Sneider was kind enough to remind us of some details about the characters. He describes Zia as "a former Marine who serves as the Dinosaur Protection Group’s paleoveterinarian," and says Franklin is "a former IT guy for Jurassic World who is now the Dinosaur Protection Group's systems analyst and go-to hacker."
JURASSIC WORLD director Colin Trevorrow is back at the helm for JURASSIC WORLD 3. He'll be working from a script he has written with Emily Carmichael, based on an idea he crafted with his JURASSIC WORLD and FALLEN KINGDOM co-writer Derek Connolly.
Pineda and Smith join a cast that includes JURASSIC WORLD and FALLEN KINGDOM stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, JURASSIC PARK stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, and new additions Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise.
A collaboration between Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, JURASSIC WORLD 3 is being executive produced by Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg, with Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley producing. Sara Scott, senior vice president of production at Universal, is overseeing the project for the studio.
The film doesn't have an official synopsis yet, but we know it will be dealing with the fact that FALLEN KINGDOM let dinosaurs loose into the California countryside. Trevorrow recently directed a short called BATTLE AT BIG ROCK that is set between the films and also deals with dinosaurs being loose in California.
JURASSIC WORLD 3 is set to reach theatres on June 11, 2021.
