Big developments are on the horizon to excite the fans of the X-Men property. Deadpool 3, while waiting to resume filming when the SAG-AFTRA strikes end, brings Hugh Jackman back for one last ride as Logan since the MCU is welcoming the Merc with a Mouth into their shared universe. Jackman’s newly developed last outing as Wolverine includes putting him in the signature yellow suit that comic fans have been waiting for. In addition, Marvel Studios has been looking into writers and directors to take on the inaugural film featuring the famed mutant team in their first reboot film.
One of the more popular rumors for the past year is the casting of Daniel Radcliffe as the next incarnation of the beastly Canadian. Radcliffe denied the casting rumors last year, but his new ripped physique that’s been displayed on his show, Miracle Workers, is making people question his denial. Variety reports that Radcliffe had partaken in a lie detector test by Vogue where his co-stars from his new musical, Merrily We Roll Along, ask him if the ripped body is connected to the Wolverine role. Radcliffe answered, “No. Yes, I got buff because I am obsessive, and I want to… You’ve seen my parents, they’re like insane fitness people. So that’s just been passed on. But no. No Wolverine. Flattered, but no.”
Last year, the Harry Potter star originally put the rumor to rest when he told GQ, “I say something, and then occasionally I get bored of answering that way so I say something different, and that sets it off again. I should just never open my mouth.” Although he’s famously taken on a lengthy franchise before, he’s still careful about the commitment when he added, “I just don’t ever want to get locked into something that I am not sure I will be able to love the same amount the whole time.”
Additionally, comic purists often took issue with Hugh Jackman’s tall stature when he was cast since Wolverine has always been 5’3. Radcliffe told Entertainment Weekly his height might also have played a factor in the rumors, “Wolverine is short, so every so often they’re like, ‘Who’s a short actor?’ There’s never been any actual truth to it. Every so often I get bored of answering the questions sensibly, so I just make a joke like I did the other day and that sort of has reignited the rumors of it, but there’s nothing going on.”
