Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano (PRISONERS) are set to star in an intriguing sounding indie flick titled SWISS ARMY MAN, and Deadline is reporting Mary Elizabeth Winstead (SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD) has also joined the project. The movie comes from directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (known as "the Daniels), and it was developed at the Sundance lab.
The dramedy "centers on a hopeless man stranded in the wilderness who befriends a dead body and together they go on a surreal journey to get home." There's no word on who Radcliffe, Dano and Winstead will be playing, but filming is expected to begin next month, with the Tadmor Group and Cold Iron Pictures co-financing and producing. The Daniels have helmed short films such as INTERESTING BALL and POCKETS, and music videos for the likes of Tenacious D ("Rize of the Fenix"), The Shins ("Simple Song") and Foster the People ("Don't Stop", "Houdini").
I'm really loving the premise of SWISS ARMY MAN, and I think it has the potential to be a very cool and fascinating movie. The Daniels have landed three great actors for their feature film directorial debut, and I'm definitely interested in checking it out.
Daniel Radcliffe has a cameo in Judd Apatow's TRAINWRECK (out July 17) and his VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN opens on November 25, 2015. Paul Dano's Brian Wilson biopic LOVE & MERCY is currently in theaters, while Mary Elizabeth Winstead has two upcoming films in post-production: John Krasinski's THE HOLLARS and Dan Trachtenberg's VALENCIA.
