Remember when Daniel Radcliffe was interested in taking on the role of Igor in Max Landis’ adaptation of FRANKENSTEIN? It seems now that he’s probably going to score the part.
Variety is reporting that Radcliffe is in final negotiations to take on Igor, who was described last Fall as, “as pathologically dirty and dressed in old clowns clothing.” What’s interesting is that according to Landis, the story is seen from the perspective of Igor, and will break down current misconceptions surrounding the mythology as well as the character.
When the project was first starting up, Landis talked about his take on the material:
I began to pick apart our knowledge of Frankenstein and discovered that the public’s idea of this myth comes from a million different places…I became committed to recontextualizing it all so it all worked in one story. By the end of the day, yeah it’s a period piece, yes it’s from Igor’s perspective, but man it’s cool….it’s the best thing I’ve written.
Paul McGuigan (LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN) is still attached to direct. Wonder if this one will stand out with the 800 others that are being developed at competing studios. In DanRad, we believe.
