Daniel Espinosa has signed on to direct the adaptation of Jo Nesbo’s novel BLOOD ON SNOW.
The film will be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio under his Appian Way banner, and may possibly serve as his next headlining role.
The novel has yet to be released. Nesbo is penning a trilogy under the name Tom Johansen. The series will begin with BLOOD ON SNOW, then is said to follow up with MORE BLOOD ON THE WATER and end with THE KIDNAPPING. These are just tentative titles at the moment.
BLOOD ON SNOW centers on “a hitman, who after failing a recent job, must go on the run from the mob along with his former boss’ wife.”
I’m thinking that DiCaprio’s mentor Martin Scorsese might have given him the tip on Nesbo. At one point, Scorsese was attached to Nesbo’s THE SNOWMAN.
Espinosa work on 2010s EASY MONEY lead to his breakout flick SAFE HOUSE starring Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington. His next flick is CHILD 44 with Tom Hardy in the lead.
