THR reports that Daniel Craig and Charlize Theron are set to star in Two for the Money, a heist thriller to be directed by Justin Lin.

Apple Original Films snagged the rights to the project in a heated multi-studio bidding war. Plot details are being kept under wraps at this time, but the film is said to follow “the evolution of the relationship between two career thieves [Daniel Craig & Charlize Theron] over the course of three big jobs.” Dan Mazeau, who worked with Justin Lin on Fast X, is writing the script for Two for the Money.

Speaking Fast X, this project actually came to life during the development of the Fast & Furious sequel. Justin Lin and Dan Mazeau came up with the story during their time on Fast X and pitched Charlize Theron on the concept, who loved it and suggested that Daniel Craig join as the male lead. As we know, Lin exited the project after just one week of shooting and was replaced by Louis Leterrier. Lin then focused his attention on Two for the Money.

Lin will also produce Two for the Money through his Perfect Storm Entertainment banner, with Charlize Theron producing through her Denver & Delilah banner.

Theron will next be seen reprising her role as Andy in The Old Guard 2. The first film followed a “covert group of tight-knit mercenaries with a mysterious inability to die who have fought to protect the mortal world for centuries. When the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it’s up to Andy and Nile, the newest soldier to join their ranks, to help the group eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetize their power by any means necessary.” The sequel doesn’t have an official release date yet but is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2024.
