CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR has added it’s first cast-member since the reveal of the film’s title and the inclusion of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther. While we do not yet know the nature of the character, RUSH and INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS actor Daniel Bruhl will be joining the film.
Bruhl could be playing anyone from a hero to a villain or even a member of HYDRA and with the actor’s range as a performer, we could be guessing for the next several years.
Deadline is also reporting that Sebastian Stan will be reprising his role as Bucky/The Winter Soldier, further complicating matters for Cap and the other remaining members of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Avengers. Marvel head Kevin Feige had this to say about the casting of Bruhl.
“With Daniel’s ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes.”
While the comments are vague, it does sound like Feige is at least expecting Bruhl to hold his own opposite Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Boseman, Scarlett Johannson, and Samuel L. Jackson. With the storyline clearly pitting Captain America versus Iron Man, it will be exciting to see who else joins the madness.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
