Dana Ashbrook is probably best known from the role he played on the television series Twin Peaks, and that role is the one referenced in the press materials for his new film, the horror thriller RESTRAINT. I've only ever seen one episode of Twin Peaks, though. Whenever I think of Ashbrook, I have an earlier role of his mind – the part he played in the first zombie movie I ever had on tape. For me, Dana Ashbrook will always be Tom Essex from RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD PART II.
Regardless of what you may or may not know Ashbrook from, he plays a character named Jeff Burroughs in writer/director Adam Cushman's RESTRAINT, which tells the story of
a disturbed young woman who plunges into a darkness after becoming unexpectedly pregnant, becoming a threat to her family and herself.
Ashbrook is joined in the cast by John Hensley, Geoffrey Rivas, and Caitlyn Folley.
RESTRAINT has been making the festival rounds and will be presented to potential buyers at the American Film Market next month. Before the film heads to AFM, a trailer has been released online to give an early preview of it.
The movie looks interesting, and I'm especially intrigued by the performance of Folley as the "disturbed young woman" who happens to be married to Ashbrook's character. I would like to watch RESTRAINT, so hopefully some good distribution news will be coming out of AFM.
